A client, who previously purchased a desk from me, commissioned me to build a credenza in walnut for his new home. The client had very specific dimensions for the credenza along with some examples that they found online, but were the wrong size.
We worked together, communicating via email, reviewing my sketches, to finalize the look and features of the credenza. I offered, and they accepted, to accompany me to the lumber retailer to select the wood for the piece.
During the build I provided daily email updates, along with photos, to keep the client updated. We also collaborated on detailed design decisions.
The credenza features sliding doors with beautiful and exciting book-matched walnut veneer.
Credenza is 40-inches wide, 16-inches deep, and 28-inches tall
It features sliding doors
With an interior center divider, the shelves are adjustable.
The cove detail on top of the legs provides a subtle break in the rectilinear form.
The sliding doors feature book-matched walnut veneer with dramatic figure.
The top also has book-matched grain and figure with epoxy-filled knot holes.
The sides are book-matched as well featuring walnut's dramatic color and tone difference between its heart and sap wood.
Sliding door handles are simply routed into the door.
Small details and changes to planes enhance the subtle beauty.
The book-matched doors flow uninterrupted across the front.
